Guiding Questions
1. How do you think the Vietnamese won the Americans?
2. What were the effects of the Americans invading Vietnam?
3. What do you think of the Vietnamese people?

1. I think that the Vietnamese won the Americans because of their will to win the war and their knowledge of the war terrain. Although they knew that the chances of winning were low because of their military power and other reasons, they continued to fight with all their might and continued to make weapons for the war. I think that is a learning point that all of us should learn because with a will, anything can be accomplished.

2. Firstly, villages and plantations were quickly destroyed when B52s dropped napalms and bombs over them. This was devastating and left a lot of fatalities. Casualties included survivors of the napalm attack burning up under burning wreckage, bomb shrapnel entering random survivors' bodies, severely injuring these survivors, etc. Secondly, the Americans left a radiation called 'Agent Orange' that infected a lot of survivors after the war. I think that they shouldn't have used dangerous chemicals such as 'Agent Orange' as it would cause many more trouble.

3. I think that they have a strong will of fighting which empowered them with the skills to make the Americans withdraw from the war. They are also kind and helpful to tourist from the experience we have so far.

Cu Chi Tunnel Group Reflection.

Guiding Questions:

1. How were the people in Cu Chi able to endure the hardships they faced.

A: The Vietnamese were Determined and had a strong will. They fought to the death for their freedom and liberty. When the Americans harshly bombed the surface so much that no one could survive,  countries would have surrendered, but the people of Cu Chi moved underground. The villagers worked hard to feed the guerillas as they thought of them as war heroes. The guerillas risked their lives to kill the Americans they hated. The Vietnamese built an underground network of tunnels and lived in there. The fighting soon took to the tunnels. The Vietnamese used the materials provided by bomb shrapnel, plane wreckage, and dead soldiers. The fighting got so bad that even children volunteered to fight.

2. How did the Cu Chi Tunnel aid the Vietnamese in their fight against the Americans and apart from the tunnel, what else did the Vietcong use (strategies, 'equipment', etc.) in their fight against the Americans?

A: The Impenetrable network of tunnels made it impossible for an American to navigate and the vietcong could ambush the Americans easily. The Vietnamese also tricked the Americans into destroying false targets. The Vietnamese also built pit-traps for the Americans and these severely injured them and the Americans usually died a painful death in the hot pit. The Americans made no progress and they had to retreat as their resources were running out.
